The most difficult task is to identify the talent and above that is to retain that talent.
People being the best source of the company are of foremost priority for the organization. In today’s competitive world, Talent management is the only key to unlock the best talent out. It’s a long procedure which starts from recruitment process and end with the exit of that talent. As the manager has to retain that talent and also has to encourage the same in order to stay ahead in the business world.

The process starts with the entry level which includes the recruitment process in Talent Management :

  1. Recruitment
  2. Selection
  3. Orientation
  4. Placement
Talent Management

This is the first step towards talent identification. This includes sorting best pool of applicants and screening them for interview. When the applicants are in front of you, you are able to make the decision in a better way. There are few tests or round of interviews such as aptitude test, technical round/text, Personal/Panel round of  Interview and then the Final one.

After the final round the best talent or talents are selected which is followed by Orientation program. This includes the proper introduction of the organization to the candidate and vise versa. And then comes the placement which includes training of the candidate. The candidate is provided the training as per the company requirement in order to have the desired output.

After the completion of entry level let’s move to the 2nd level which is Retention of that Talent :

As we know that only hiring the best talent will not resolve the purpose. Company has to retain that talent, which is the only main motive of Talent Management. Retaining the best selected talent is very important for the growth of the company. So the company can retain the talent keeping in mind various factors such as Salary package, giving recognition, providing best suited job profile, providing chances to develop, culture etc.

This also includes appreciation and promotion. This helps a lot in order to boost the morale ,increase the work quality and productivity. And appreciating the work helps in retention and promotion may lead to make the candidate permanent.

After the assurance of retention, the next step involves candidate’s development:

This includes assessing the skills, his competencies, knowledge, attitude towards work and the rest of the employees of the company. All this helps you to decide what needs to be improved in him and what quality needs to enhances in him. This is basically known as Competency Mapping.
This mapping helps the manager to get idea, whether the person is fit to get promotion or not keeping in mind the various elements involved.

Then comes the final step, here the future of the candidate in the company is decided on the basis of performance:

When the candidate has become the well settled employee of the company, then the new task begins. THis includes the identification of his/her true potential. This is basically testing whether the person can handle the extra given responsibilities or not.

And if the person is able to handle those extra responsibilities and the work pressure, then managements starts planning her/his future in the company. The management starts recognizing his efforts in order to build his/her career. This way employee feels the self importance and rewarded. This process of rewarding continues until the retirement of that talent which was retained, maintained and built with the company for the progress in both the ways.

This is the most important process, as this involves the retention and development of the most valuable asset of the company, which can help the company to reach its extreme heights.
